So far, I’ve met incredible bloggers, spoken to new bloggers whom I plan to follow, the first set of awards and now we are going to hear from Suzie81speaks.

I keep thinking we should hold a Sydney Bloggers Bash and hold it at Woolloomooloo. How’s that for a place name?!! Hope it all goes well.

That’s been my thought about London and with the terrorist threat, I’m not considering making the second trip of a lifetime any time soon. Shame. Meanwhile, we had a fantastic 3 week trip to Tasmania in January and we’re all itching to get back.

Oh no, please don’t be put off. A simple act of hate changes the hearts of many but I can assure you we were perfectly safe. I’d love to visit Australia again soon and Tasmania is on my list too! Who knows, maybe the tide will take us there one day. 😁

Tasmania is fantastic and such an escape from the troubles of the world. My husband is Tasmanian and we really feel that very strong family connection to the place. His ancestors go back to 1828, which is very early for Tasmania.

Gosh that’s interesting. His family must have many stories about the colony.

It’s actually been more of a thing of hunting the stories down. Geoff’s Dad passed away when he was 16 and was a quiet man who didn’t say much. We found out that Geoff’s 3rd Great Grandfather helped Irish political exile John Mitchel escape to New York in the 1850s. Mitchel went on to write Jail Journal about his experiences and mentioned him…Daniel Burke. That is just one of many we’ve uncovered.

Gosh, that is an interesting historical nugget! I do hope you manage to find more stories like this. If Mitchel mentioned Daniel Burke in his Jail Journal, imagine uncovering the Burke history and recording them for posterity. Don’t mind me – I love stuff like this. My own family history spans across different countries, so I’m always eager to read other people’s stories, once they’ve uncovered their history.

Eloise, thought you might enjoy this story. Daniel Burke was married to Catherine O’Mara whose brother was murdered in a famous case and the family which included the Burkes, were sent out to Australia: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rathcannon
Here’s a link to a post I wrote about Jail Journal: https://beyondtheflow.wordpress.com/2017/04/14/j-jail-journal-a-z-challenge/
They had very interesting lives.

Lovely to finally get to meet you, Eloise. Only wish we had more time to speak. My video and social media duties kept me busy.
Looking forward to seeing you at next years event.
