Lie with Me

Let me lie in the long grass.

Watch as it envelopes our ears.

Let me lie by your side

As we hide from our fears.

When the sky falls apart,

Spilling stars like jewelled tears,

Count them out with me

Amongst the glades

Far away from here.

Soften the shadows

That sneak up to play

hide and seek with out bodies

without any say;

storming across the ocean

of seeded heads of prosperity

cloaking our intermittent moments

like shadowed waves over a green sea.

When dawn cracks the sky

marching in a new day,

and I can’t lie

any longer

amongst the green glades,

pour a glass of wine,

set a toast

and

dance the day away:

tonight I’ll be back

in your dreams,

Lying with you again.
