Pushing. Panting. Moving.
Hand in mine, eyes wide open
Writhing as the pain encases pleasure

Forward. Backward. Up. Down.
Struggling to hold on
Heartbeats melting under the heat

Sliding. Sweating. Straining.
Moments draw close
The mind-spinning crescendo.

Exhale. Relax. Smile.
Heated bodies cool
Dancing is over for today!

Floating away, losing memories
Ground is gone, so is sanity
Flailing about, looking for hope
No-one’s around holding the telescope.

Wishing today could disappear
Holding back the tears, don’t make a smear
Frightened to shout or look away
Knowing that now might be your last day.

Reach out to me; be my gravity
Just for once don’t set me free
To fight my way through this anguish
So confusing; spoken in another language.

Broken dreams, broken hearts and minds
Hope a commodity so hard to find
Watch the ground slip from under me
Nothing to stop your life slipping away, free.

Balking at your pure hatred of me
The sheer size of such ego feeds my curiosity.
Shirking warning signals from your horsey smile
Warnings blazing, telling me to run a mile,
I enter with bated breath to see how far you carry
A chip so large your shoulder looks saggy!

Beatings, abuse, neglect I feel
Not by your temper but lack of greeting skill!
Alas, should I cry with laughter or shame
At a lack of etiquette, upbringing of Cain?
Seismic laughs shake my brain
As you insinuate my existence is lame.

Poor integrity on your part I see
The last resort to un-name me.
Address my neighbour with such gusto
Eyes sharp as lasers to watch me cringe so.
As though I cared when in advance I declared you inept
And wash my hands of any predisposed debt
To allow you to shame me with your art of hypocrisy.
What you show your son, is that what you show me?

Un-hand the red letter, release your lust of hate
No apologies will be uttered to clear the slate.
Two cats as male lovers? Not I think.
You have a better chance of cleaning out a skunk’s stink!
The same emotions I feel for you,
You reciprocate with fervour
Ending my dealings with you. Therefore I shall not mention you further.

Le Brush from A Tale Of Knots

Le Brush is the marshal of this town
The naughty knots are always making him frown
They like to play in the hair all day
Making it stand in a funny way.

But Le Brush works hard to chase away
The naughty knots keeping the hair in a fray
He brushes and brushes until the last knot disappears
And the hairs settle down
Giving Le Brush a nice cheer!

Well done Le Brush
The knots are gone
Till next time the naughty knots come along!

I begin with nothing.
When I leave I take the empty hopes,
Futile love, passion unspent.
The zero of my body lying
Against the faceless casket
Not seeing the tears I hope fall
For a life filled but now empty.

While I breathe, I hold back the nothing,
The zero that exists between death and life.
I fill my cup with memories
Brazen, hot and brimming,
Till I can’t breathe with the fire.

You hold a part of those memories,
Even a smile or passing hello
No zeros are left from contact
Only loneliness gives an empty chill.

Ronovan Writes Weekly Haiku Prompt Challenge #6 – Flare and Shadow

Red stains now darkened
Shadows who creep unhindered
Carnal delights flare

Many miles to ride
Hope is always cleansed
Chasing shadows abide
That loneliness is my friend

Sorrows inside
Find a way to make amends
Shadows close by
Show that loneliness is my friend

Break down and try
To hold you close again
But deep in your eyes
I see that loneliness is my friend

The end is in sight
You might not comprehend
But forever by my side
Loneliness is my friend.

Forever Your Clown

Say good-bye, to all the laughter
Funny laughter for me while I held my tears.
Say out loud how you loved me, thinking of me
But could never protect me from my own fears.

Sit and watch all the mad things
Silly glad things to evoke your smile
Inside I’m a draft of grief and lonely
Guile to show you funny, life is being the clown.

Follow me on my journey into humour
Each turn a giggle, my sad eyes smile
Reach for the bottle, drown the sorrow
Tomorrow I will still be your clown.

Our children are dying
Hear their cries outside
Limbs and bodies flying
From the past we cannot hide

Their tears keep flowing
From promises we never keep
Young aching hearts moaning
Broken spirits, a refuge they seek

Lands divided now empty
Futures laid in waste
Weren’t we tasked with knowing
That history repeats its mistakes?

The blood we spill darkens
Mirroring the day’s end
Tomorrow the silence will sharpen
As another baby’s life ends

Letter to a Friend

Dear friend, or just an illusion,

The hope you have withdrawn has blinded me.
Our plans and dreams a distant reminder
Of the short prelude of friendship we shared.
Closeness, the promise of a support system
To breathe life into our dreams;
The surprise of finding a kindred spirit
In the midst of chaos and noise.
Now forgotten or released.

I walk on, pretending all is well
But the taste of what could have been lingers.
My fingers hastily fly across keys
To capture a word, a thought, a joke, a smile
Lost in the ether to the silence it receives.

As you move forward to more exciting friendships
My letter serves as a reminder to myself more than to you
Of a time when promises were made and kept,
So that I can hold onto the hope
That one day I will friend a true friend
Who will capture those promises and fulfil them.

Yours in memory
A forgotten friend
