What a special Wensfriesday it is! For myself and my family, the excitement begins today. Baking started two days ago with delicious home made goodies filling the empty cake tins and biscuit boxes we have kept all year long.
This year we have decided to make special hampers for each family and will be filling them with the goodies we have made. From bags of candy floss (yup we bought a candy floss machine!) to home made chocolate brownies, shortbread, Christmas sweets and cheese straws, we hope to bring some Christmas cheer to all our family with a home made touch. We can spend a fortune of presents they don’t want or need but I hope making an effort will mean more this year.
The children have all chosen something to add to the hamper, though I am battling with the youngest who feels that playing minecraft is far more important! The battle continues…
The Hubble has decided to make special Goan sweets (his family comes from Goa) and his speciality, eggnog. It’s delicious and with added rum, a bonus at the end of a long day of baking and creating.
We have our menu ready for Christmas Day too. Unfortunately my mum is not showing signs of improvement and might not be able to join us at home. But all will not be lost because we can always go to her and take her a warmed plate of Christmas dinner. It won’t be the same as having her home, but thank God we still have her here to celebrate with us.
I’d love to hear from you. What special plans do you have for Christmas? Do you make special treats and what’s your favourite recipe? I’m not a fan of Christmas pudding and prefer a nice cheesecake. What do you like? Don’t be shy, let me know! I love hearing from my readers. π
On the author front, I’ve finished my quota of personalised Christmas books for the year and hope the children enjoy them. It’s been great fun sending my special readers off on adventures to save Santa and his friends. I even had a return customer from last year which made me hopeful that my books are enjoyable enough to want another for this year!
Next year is going to be exciting with two adult books close to the editing stage and new ideas for children’s stories champing at the bit to be written.
The reassurance of of readers helps and I hope to reach more readers in the future (yes I’m looking at you with pleading eyes!). I have to commit to a more aggressive marketing plan. Yes, I can hear the laughter from here. Me…aggressive selling…hahaha! Well, if you feel like supporting me, please spread the word about my books or leave a review on my Amazon page. Ask for a copy of any of my books in your local library and make my Christmas wish come true! I will be eternally grateful.
Whatever you’re doing this festive season, keep well and stay safe. Sending you all festive hugs and special Christmas Spirit to light your way to the new year! xxx
Happy Christmas to you and yours.
PS…. Send cookies. π

Merry Christmas to you and all your family, Eloise.
I’m sorry your mum won’t be home with you all, but am so glad that she is far better than a few months back. Please give her a Christmas hug from me. I hope you are feeling better as well after that recent flu.
I’ve still got my Christmas cake to decorate and this evening we have family coming over for Christmas Eve dinner. Thank goodness it’s me not doing the cooking, otherwise it would be beans on toast for us all followed by ice cream π Yes, very festiveπ
Your homemade hampers sound a wonderful idea and I’m sure the whole family will love them. We are spending Christmas day over at my partner’s sisters with the rest of his family, although I’ll be on duty serving drinks and food during the day, but I don’t mind helping out at all, just so long as I don’t miss Dr.Who!
It’s Christmas pudding for us. My partner made six! We’ve already eaten two and given two away and one (maybe two) will be used tomorrow. Then on Boxing Day I’m the Quiz Master for the annual Boxing Day quiz for the family. I don’t know why but they always choose me to be the Quiz Master. It might be down to the fact that I never shut up! π
Hopefully between Christmas and New Year we will get a bit of a rest. I’ll certainly not be out at the sales!
Have a great Christmas and thank you very much for all your support since we met here on WordPress. You’ve been a wonderful blogging friend and I really do appreciate all the support you have given both my blog and me.
Right, I better get on and must not forget to put out mince pies and sherry tonight, as well as some carrots for the reindeer ππ
Merry Christmas.

Thank you for your support and friendship over the past blogging year too, Hugh. I would never have believed I could meet such lovely friends and bloggers here on WordPress and all your support has given me the confidence to keep writing.
It sounds as though you will be very busy with loads of scrumptious food over the next few days! Enjoy the six Christmas puds! I believe they ask you to be the Quiz Master because you’re the most fun at it! Who prepares the questions for the quiz? Do you have to do that too? I can imagine you coming up with some fab questions and facts.
I stopped watching Dr Who after David Tennant’s exit. It’s not the same without the handsome doc! Oh and it has become so scary, my kids don’t want to watch it with me lol! So we browse over to other family shows instead. The one I want to watch is the Christmas Downton Abbey – I can’t wait!
Please post pics of your Christmas cake – would love to see it before everyone enjoys a slice!
Sending loads of hugs to you and your family Hugh and wishing you a Merry Christmas and all the best for 2015.

Oh yes, I have to set all the questions as well so, come Boxing Day morning, I’ll be busy finding questions including some trick ones π
As for my cake, I may now not decorate it as am running out of time. But I’ll be honest and say I used a tin that was far too big, so my Christmas cake could be cut with a pizza wheel slicer whereas the one my Partner has made, looks perfect! I have a feeling he handed me the wrong cake tin! I may cheat and post pictures of the cake I made last year instead (before my blogging days).
Enjoy Downtown Abbey. By then, most of our family will be asleep, apart from Toby and I. So we’ll probably be watching it as well before going out for quick walk. Dr.Who does look very scary this Christmas from the preview I have seen, so I expect I’ll be hiding behind the sofa with the rest of the nation.
Ho, ho, ho…is that the sound of sleigh bells I hear in the distance? Better get my Christmas stocking hang up for all those Christmas socks I am expecting π

Merry Christmas, Eloise! Hope you have a great holiday.
My wife bakes a lot of cookies. Since it’s just the two of us and neither eats many we have to give them all away. I think it’s just the baking and the giving she likes, not the cookies.

Merry Christmas Trent! I love the fact that even though you don’t eat the cookies, someone benefits from your wife’s baking. I’m sure they look forward to them every year.
Wishing you and your family a wonderful Christmas. Will you be going to see the rest of your family? Safe travels if you are and best wishes to them too. βοΈβοΈ

Merry Christmas, sweetie! May all good intentions be understood and appreciation given for the love-filled hard work you and your family have put in to such lovely gifts. xo
As for me and mine, its a low-key affair. Spent last night with my mom cleaning her apartment so she can have wheelchair races (broken leg), and tonight is popcorn/cocoa/sofa bed/movie night on the island. My time here is growing short, so I’m making the most of it before battling the traveling hoards Saturday.
To you, your family (feel-better-wishes for your mom!) and readers: Merry Christmas!
